The 1960-D Washington Quarter is a silver quarter minted at the Denver Mint. It is part of the long-running Washington Quarter series (1932–1998) before the introduction of the 50 State Quarters program.
Obverse (Front): Features the classic George Washington portrait, designed by John Flanagan.
Reverse (Back): Shows a heraldic eagle with spread wings, clutching arrows and olive branches, symbolizing strength and peace.
Mintage: 63,000,244 coins were produced, making it relatively common.
Repunched Mint Mark (RPM): Some 1960-D quarters have a repunched “D” mint mark, increasing their value.
Double Die Variants: Minor doubling has been reported, particularly in the inscriptions.
Off-Center Strikes & Die Cracks: While not common, these errors can add premium value.
As a pre-1965 silver quarter, it holds both collector and bullion value. High-grade examples and error varieties are especially sought after.
