Skin fasting is a skincare trend that involves taking a break from all skincare products to let the skin reset and rebalance naturally.
Curious about its effects, I decided to try skin fasting for a week, eliminating cleansers, moisturizers, and serums from my routine.
Initially, my skin felt dry and tight, especially since I was used to applying hydrating products daily. By the second day, my skin began producing more oil, likely compensating for the lack of moisture.
I noticed a slight increase in breakouts, but I resisted the urge to apply spot treatments. Midway through the week, my skin started to stabilize, feeling neither overly dry nor excessively oily.
Interestingly, my natural skin texture seemed smoother, and some redness had reduced. However, my pores appeared more noticeable, possibly due to the lack of exfoliation.
By the end of the week, my skin felt more balanced, though I missed the refreshing sensation of my regular skincare routine.
While skin fasting may not be a miracle solution, it made me more aware of my skin’s natural behavior and helped me reconsider the necessity of certain products.
I realized that while minimalism in skincare can be beneficial, some level of care, such as gentle cleansing and hydration, remains essential.
